Thompson is Manitoba’s third largest city, situated in the heart of the boreal forest.
You can reach Thompson by paved highway, train, bus or airplane.
If you are travelling by water or snowmobile, Thompson is at the centre of the Grass River Corridor en route from Grand Rapids, Cumberland House and Cranberry Portage to Hudson Bay. Summer or winter, this corridor allows you to explore the wilderness of northern Manitoba before you come visit us and enjoy our northern hospitality.
When you arrive in Thompson, visit the Tourist Booth at Heritage North Museum. It’s the log building located just inside the city boundary as you drive north into Thompson on Highway 6. We also have travel and visitor information at the Thompson Chamber of Commerce office in the downtown area of the city, at City Centre Mall.
