Keith has been actively involved in volunteer work; most recently including President of the Thompson Lions Club, various executive positions with Rotary Club of Thompson, Treasurer of Spirit Way Inc., Chairperson of the Thompson Zoological Society Inc. o/a Boreal Discovery Centre, Director on the Thompson Regional Airport Authority board and President of the Thompson Chamber of Commerce on 3 occasions.


Oswald Sawh, Past President & Treasurer

Oswald has lived in Thompson since 1993.

He is the CFO and the Manager of the Fisheries Loan Program for the Communities Economic Development Fund (CEDF), having worked with CEDF since 1998. He has his MBA, CGA, EDO and Commerce Degree.

Oswald currently serves of Vice President of the Thompson Chamber of Commerce for the past 1 ½ years, Chair of the Thompson Humane Society ince 2006 and President of Men are Part of the Solution (MAPS) since 2009. He was also served on the Thompson City Council from 2002 to 2010 – 6 years as a Councilor and 2 years as Deputy Mayor.

Oswald strongly believes in volunteerism and that it is the "backbone of a strong community". Oswald's main focus these days is his young son.

Dave Moore

Dave Moore came to Thompson in 1979 as the Branch Manager for Westburne Electric. He currently works as the General Sales Manager at Arctic Radio and brings years of marketing experience to the executive.

Keith MacDonaldColleen Smook, Director

Colleen has resided in Thompson for 46 years and is co-owner of McCreedy Campground. She has 7 children of which 4 reside and work in Thompson and is the grandmother to 22 grandchildren.

Colleen has been a Chamber member for 17+ years and on the Executive for 4 years. She has also been a City Councillor since 2014. Colleen is also actively involved with volunteering for many organizations. Colleen is proud of the Spirit in our city and always challenged to change the attitude of those few that do not have the Spirit.

Volker Beckmann, DirectorVolker Beckmann, Director

Volker Beckmann is an independent graphic designer and marketing consultant under the business name Design North. Volker received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours from the University of Manitoba and majored in corporate design. He has received several graphic design awards including the Premier’s Design Award and the One Show Award in New York. Design North’s work has been published in World Corporate Identity and Big Book of Logos.

Volker was born in Germany, has lived in South Africa and has traveled on four continents. He is a member of the Thompson Ski Club, is a CSIA Level 2 Ski Instructor, and is the volunteer Project Director for Spirit Way Inc. He has received volunteer awards from the Province of Manitoba and the Thompson Rotary Club.


Duncan Regier , Director

Duncan and his wife moved to Thompson in 2013. He has work experience in the property management, retail and construction industries. His interests include computer science, history and economics. Duncan currently sits on the boards of Thompson Chamber of Commerce, Spirit Way Inc. and Lions Manor 55.



Leann Brown, Director

For the past 12 years, Leann has worked in Economic Development; 11 years with Community Futures North Central Development, and now with Communities Economic Development Fund. It has been an inspiring journey to assist local and regional community members to realize their dreams and start up their own businesses, providing benefits to their home communities. Leann is also a volunteer on the Thompson Regional Humane Society board, has sat on the Thompson Crisis Centre board and assisted with local community groups such as Rotary Park Association.


Paula Yanko, Office Manager

Paula has been the Office Manager since February, 2012. She works part time at the Chamber office, Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Paula has 23 years’ experience in office administration, formerly working in diverse industries including insurance, equipment sales and rentals, and property management.

Paula owns and operates her own bookkeeping business, and volunteers as Treasurer of the Thompson Zoological Society Inc. o/a Boreal Discovery Centre, and as a Thompson Community Foundation Director.
